Proposed Projects Project Need: Southern Rhode Island is Growing Rapidly Southern Rhode Island has experienced substantial growth and development in recent years and has seen the consumption of electricity grow 35 percent in the past seven years.

In order to continue to provide safe and reliable electric service in Southern Rhode Island, National Grid is proposing several projects to improve the Southern Rhode Island transmission system. The company has filed with the Rhode Island Energy Facility Siting Board and will be filing for additional permits required for these projects.
