National Grid
Our Giving Program
Our framework for responsible business sets our commitment to investing in the future by encouraging and supporting investment in the community through both the activities of our employees and our financial contributions, with an emphasis on long-term partnerships. We know that community commitment isn't just important, it's imperative to the success of our business and the satisfaction of our customers.

We interact with business leaders, large and small customers, elected officials, nonprofit organizations and other community leaders to build strong and lasting partnerships. Our employees live and work in the same communities we serve. They're on local boards, participate in community events and interact with local town governments. In all of these roles, they act as ambassadors for a company that cares about its customers.

We also donate significant amounts of time and money to respected charitable organizations. We contribute millions of dollars every year to deserving programs, most notably in energy, education and the environment-three areas critical to the core business of our company moving forward.

Our ambition is to be a leader in our field and be at the forefront of best practice. We want to ensure our approach is sustainable and enables us to build meaningful long-term relationships with the community.

How do we do that? Our Corporate Giving policy is to support programs that focus on:
  • Energy and Environment: Particularly projects that focus on reducing the causes and impact of climate change, the promotion of the local environment around our operational sites, the delivery of energy efficiency and alleviating fuel poverty.
  • Education and Skills: The shortage of skills which are essential to the daily delivery of our business operations is a key issue for National Grid. Our community work focuses on engineering, research and development skills central to our business activities.
  • Community Investment: Programs that directly support our employees and their initiatives in the community and also encompass safety and inclusion & diversity initiatives.
