Request for Proposals for Non-Pipeline Solutions

January 4, 2019

In the United States, National Grid operates as an electric, natural gas, and clean energy delivery company to more than 20 million people through its networks in New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The Company serves the firm gas requirements of customers through its regulated subsidiaries: The Brooklyn Union Gas Company, KeySpan Gas East Corporation and Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in the state of New York; Boston Gas Company and Colonial Gas Company in the state of Massachusetts; and The Narragansett Electric Company in the state of Rhode Island.

National Grid is committed to transforming its natural gas networks with smarter, cleaner, and more resilient energy solutions to meet the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050. In furtherance of this goal and to meet a portion of the growing demand for natural gas in our service territories, the Company is issuing this RFP in order to identify and incorporate supply side alternatives to construction of interstate pipeline capacity that have the potential to meet peak periods of natural gas consumption. The Company will evaluate and consider all offers from an experienced contractor that successfully demonstrate an ability to reduce the Company's reliance on pipeline projects as early as the heating season commencing November 1, 2019.

While the Company is interested in other smart solutions such as demand side management and energy efficiency, solutions that do not provide incremental supply are not being considered pursuant to this RFP. The Company does not anticipate that any one proposal will be able to meet all its customer need and therefore anticipates selection of multiple proposals from Contractors.

Proposals Due

March 4, 2019 @ 5:00 P.M. EST
